About the band
Ingott is a Czech heavy-metal band from Karviná, formed in 1987 as Ingot and sitting between heavy metal and hard rock. It was founded by singer and guitarist Jura Šperl (ex Citron, ex Limetall) and guitarist Martin “Maco” Szczur. After breaks in 1991–1993 and 2000–2007, the band returned under the name Ingott and has been releasing albums at a steady pace ever since.
The Ingot era produced the album Jako hnůj (1999). The comeback started with Charon (2016), followed by the fifteen-track Na cestě do nebe stavil jsem se v pekle, Commando (2022), which features klezmer clarinet from folk legend Přemek “Chip” Máčel, and Tři kříže (2024), which was unusually christened by the fans themselves at a concert. The band builds on classic metal riffs, the honest sound of Marshall tube amps and lyrics it has always taken pride in.
The album Sto černých let (A Hundred Black Years) is a tribute to Karel Kryl: fourteen of his famous and lesser-known songs in hard-rock arrangements. The record was marked by the death of bassist Aleš “Alda” Venglář, who died suddenly just as the album was heading into production.
